The SBB is launching a campaign “for respect and safety”, together with its social partners. From next week, slogans will be displayed on signs, ticket machines and screens in stations, in order to prevent attacks.
Every day, an average of ten verbal or physical attacks are committed against CFF staff, deplores the transport company on Monday in a communiqué. Some have gotten worse in recent years. This may involve insults, threats, insults or assault.
The feeling of security is “stable” and remains strong, but awareness is necessary, estimate the CFF, which describes the safety of its staff and customers as an “absolute priority”.
The “travel together with respect” campaign aims to raise awareness among both users and staff “about respectful behavior, with the aim of reducing attacks on public transport and promoting peaceful cohabitation”.

Training center
In addition to this campaign, the CFF recalls that the presence of the Transport Police was reinforced in 2024 and that since September, they have worn bodycams which can be activated in certain situations. “These cameras can be used to deter potential malicious people, to defuse conflicts and, if necessary, to record evidence, thus contributing to safety in public transport,” believe the SBB.

The railway company has also opened a new training center in Loewenberg (FR), near Murten, to better prepare its staff to defuse any violent situations on trains.
Since this summer, the company’s various employees have been training to deal with different conflict situations that could arise in their daily lives with travelers. On a station platform, at a ticket office or on a train: several scenes are recreated so that staff learn to adopt the right reflexes in the event of a violent situation.
