The legendary American musician and producer Quincy Jones has died at the age of 91, his family announced in a press release, relayed by the Associated Press agency, Monday November 4. The one who produced the albums Off the Wall, Thriller et Bad Michael Jackson also worked on albums by Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald. He has won a total of around thirty Grammy Awards. The cause of his death has not been clarified at this stage.

After decades of rubbing shoulders with music’s biggest stars, Quincy Jones took the liberty of handing out good and bad points, calling the Beatles the “worst musicians in the world” or even Michael Jackson from “Machiavellian”.

If he marked the second half of the 20th century, Quincy Jones was also present in the 21st. Curious about new technologies, the producer had experimented with podcasts, then interactive videos for a piano learning method with which Harry Connick Jr. collaborated. In 2017, he also created the Qwest platform, a sort of Netflix for jazz and close music, where we find concerts, documentaries and interviews.
