This is a trend which is confirmed over the months: in a context of reductions in State expenditure, the income of retirees is increasingly targeted by the public authorities. We naturally think of the draft 2025 budget presented at the beginning of October and its measure providing for a six-month postponement of the next increase in basic pensions, which would not be increased until July 1. A gap which, according to the government, would represent nearly 4 billion euros in savings for the State.
Even more recently, the Council for Compulsory Deductions, an organization attached to the Court of Auditors, has recommended measures against the wealthiest retirees. In a report published on October 14, the council therefore recommends that the executive increase the CSG rate and remove the 10% tax reduction on the pensions of retirees with the highest incomes. A reform which would also represent several billion euros in favor of state finances.
For retirees, however, there is some clarity in this horizon of unfavorable measures. In a decision rendered on October 15, Agirc-Arcco announced an increase in supplementary retirement pensions of 1.6%. Although this increase will be minimal, it will nevertheless have the advantage of being almost immediate. The 14 million retirees concerned will benefit from this increase from the transfer of their pension for the month of November.
But a surprise awaits pensioners in a few days, since the Agirc-Arrco funds have planned to postpone this transfer by several days compared to the classic dates. Indeed, usually, the transfer of Agirc-Arrco pensions appears at the very beginning of the month on the bank accounts of policyholders, most often on the 1st. But these payments cannot take place on a public holiday or a weekend. However, November 1 is a public holiday and November 2 and 3 fall on a weekend, the transfer of Agirc-Arrco pensions will only be visible on the bank accounts of retirees this Monday, November 4, 2024.
Pensions paid by the National Old Age Insurance Fund (Cnav) will also be postponed. But this time, policyholders will receive their basic pension for the month of October one day before the usual date, set in principle on the 9th of each month. As November 9 falls on a Saturday this year, the Pension Insurance transfer will be brought forward by one day. It will take place on Friday the 8th, only 4 days after the payment of the Agirc-Arrco pension. 14 million retirees will therefore receive two pension transfers during this week of Monday November 4.
Please note, however, that retirees dependent on Carsat d’Alsace-Moselle will receive their November pension on Monday 4. For the same reasons as the payments of Agirc-Arrco pensions, their transfer will in fact be postponed for a few days due to the calendar. . Last clarification: the dates announced by the pension funds are those of issuance of transfers. Some payments may therefore not appear on the same day in a retiree’s account due to bank processing times.
