Donald Trump on a garbage truck mocking Kamala Harris and Joe Biden. The Republican candidate who asks if the Democratic candidate “Drank or did she do drugs?” The Democratic candidate who calls Donald Trump a “fascist”… This American presidential campaign has produced its share of provocations. A tense climate, difficult to bear for some American citizens.

“A real circus” for Margaret, who leaves an advance polling station in Milwaukee. She is “exhausted” by all this information, she believes that it is “too much”.

There are notably too many insults during this race for the White House. In mid-October, the Democrat notably called on her Republican rival to publish her health report as she did. “She’s slow.”, “not very intelligent”replied Donald Trump. Weeks of controversy followed. The behavior of “my opponent, a former president of the United States, really degrades the presidential office”launched Kamala Harris who concluded that “Donald Trump should never again stand behind the seal of the United States”.

A brutal campaign for voters trying to control their emotions. “I'm a little overwhelmed by what's happening right now and a lot of emotions going through meconfides George, a young student. I try to stay informed, just, keep a cool head and not let myself be influenced by, let's say, words or things like that.”

“The attitude of the two candidates during the campaign ? Well, they should just do what's best for the country. It’s time for this to stop.”

If this campaign reaches an exhausting level of vulgarity, “It’s not new unfortunately”deplores Matthew who also can't take it anymore : “It seems like the temperature has risen a little bit. It seems a lot more vicious, more personal. The insults have been very, very negative and very exhausting.”

Matthew can no longer receive “around 50 text messages per day” : “I'm bombarded with requests for donations, reminders to vote early. So yes, it's very, very exhausting. It's a very fragile time in our country right now because people are taking sides. I would like this is finished.” This American, however, ends on a positive note : “Whatever happens, whether it's Trump or Harris who wins, we'll be fine. We'll get through this, like we always do.”
