Member of the Vaud Grand Council and Lausanne municipal councilor, UDC elected official Nicola Di Giulio died at his home during the night from Friday to Saturday. A sudden and unexpected disappearance, reports “24 Heures”. He was 56 years old.

“The management of the UDC Vaud is deeply saddened by this upsetting news. Our thoughts are with his wife, his children, his loved ones and his friends. The leadership of the cantonal party, the president of the UDC parliamentary group in the Grand Council, all the deputies and federal elected officials express their most sincere condolences to his family,” the party communicated.

Sometimes difficult to classify, Mr. Di Giulio had over the years been involved in very varied subjects, recalls the Vaudois daily, such as violence in amateur football, free public transport on Saturdays, racial profiling in the police or gambling addiction.

“It is with deep sadness that the Vaud authorities learned of the death of the deputy of the Democratic Union of the Center Nicola Di Giulio, which occurred suddenly this weekend. A minute of silence will be observed during the next meeting of the Grand Council in his tribute,” communicated the State of Vaud this Sunday afternoon. “Father of four children, he leaves behind a family and loved ones to whom the authorities send their most sincere thoughts and condolences.”
