Slimane accused of sexual harassment: The palpable unease around the singer during the NRJ Music Awards ceremony in Cannes

The popular singer and composer Slimane was on stage at the NRJ Awards this Friday evening, despite the complaint filed against him for sexual harassment.

The tension was apparently palpable behind the scenes of the NRJ Music Awards organized this Friday evening in and broadcast live on TF1. The reason? The presence of Slimane, popular singer and composer, an essential figure in this ceremony for many years but in turmoil since the beginning of the week with the announcement of a complaint filed by a former technician against him for sexual harassment.

Nominated in two categories, French-speaking male artist and French-speaking song, Slimane was also scheduled to perform on stage during this ceremony. At the start of the evening, his arrival on the red carpet in the company of his long-time accomplice, Vitaa, did not cause any particular stir.

But according to Le Parisien, several personalities invited to this ceremony spoke of their discomfort. Particularly among those who were to present awards during this evening fearing to share the stage with him. On the red carpet, Slimane only said he was “stressed” but that he was looking forward to “his performance”.

A little later, the thought of Indochina, the first winner of the evening, “to all those who are victims of academic, moral and sexual harassment” had a particular resonance in the NRJ Music Awards room.

Facts dating from 2023

Slimane has been in turmoil since the beginning of the week when one of the former technicians of the very popular singer and composer accused him of sexual harassment in a complaint he filed this Monday, October 28. The facts date back to 2023 during a show in Saint-Étienne (), reported Le Parisien.

According to the daily, after a show, Slimane would have asked this technician to have a sexual relationship with him then he would have sent him “during the night, from his bed in the tour bus, […] a multitude of messages and videos of sexual or even pornographic nature […] for two and a half hours.

To Le Parisien, the lawyer explained that his client “does not want to throw the artist out to waste, he just wants him to answer for his actions and for this not to happen again.”
