Halloween broke heat records

About twenty regions of Quebec experienced their hottest Halloween day on record on Thursday, with temperatures reaching up to 26°C.

The temperatures recorded in southern Quebec shattered heat records for a second consecutive day.

In Montreal, the thermometer indicated 24.4°C on Thursday. Never seen before, in the city where the previous record was broken in 1956, with 21.7°C.

However, it was in Sainte-Clotilde, in Montérégie, that it was the hottest. The mercury soared to 26.3°C, while the hottest Halloween on record in the region was in 1956, with 22.2°C.

In Estrie, the Sherbrooke region also experienced its hottest Halloween. The thermometer indicated 24.9°C on Thursday, while the highest temperature recorded on the same date was 21.7°C, in 1935 and 1942.

With a temperature of 23.7°C, the Gatineau region, in Outaouais, beat its previous record of 20.0°C established in 1946.

In the Quebec region, it reached 22.0°C on Thursday, a clear increase compared to the previous record of 20.6°C marked in 1942.
