For the moment, the watchword of the “Samm Sa Kaddu” coalition is not to react, not to make any comments on the meeting between Déthié Fall and Ousmane Sonko, which took place the day before yesterday, Monday. In any case, not before the press conference of the leader of the Republican Party for Progress (PRP), scheduled for this morning, on the issue. Yesterday, in front of the press, Barthélémy Dias and his supporters royally ignored the subject. Even if this rapprochement between Déthié Fall and Ousmane Sonko is not a surprise for the “Samm Sa Kaddu” coalition, according to confidences from members of this coalition, the mayor of Dakar, Barthélémy Dias, and his companions felt the blow coming .

For some time, they had noticed changes in the behavior of the leader of the Republican Party for Progress, Déthié Fall, who had begun to distance himself from the rest of the group. According to information from L’Observateur, Déthié Fall abandoned the “Samm Sa Kaddu” coalition the day after the publication of the lists for the early legislative elections of November 17, 2024 by the General Directorate of Elections (DGE). Since then, Déthié Fall, who is placed in 50th place on the national list of “Samm Sa Kaddu” led by the mayor of Dakar, Barthélémy Dias, has not given any further news. He has not participated in any coalition activities since the lists were published. Whether it’s public or private meetings, he doesn’t come. “We have no more news from him,” whispers a senior coalition official.
He continues: “All the meetings we have organized in recent times, Déthié Fall has not come. And when we call him or send him messages, he doesn’t answer or call back. During the launch of our coalition, he sent us his representative to whom we decided not to give the floor. We received information about his audience with Ousmane Sonko at the Petit Palais, but this did not surprise us, because we already knew that he was discussing with them (the leaders of the Pastef party, Editor’s note). »

However, Déthié Fall was at the forefront for the constitution of the “Samm Sa Kaddu” coalition. He gave himself body and soul to the establishment of this electoral framework. Because, reveals one of the officials, “Déthié Fall told us that the Senegalese are keen to respect the word given and that these people, since they came to power, have not respected any of their commitments. So, it is on this basis that we chose and gave the name “Samm Sa Kaddu” to our coalition. »
