Elements of the judicial police reporting to the Tangier police headquarters arrested, on Thursday, on the basis of precise information provided by the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, five people active within the framework of a criminal network trafficking drugs and psychotropic substances.
Four suspects were arrested aboard a light vehicle during a security operation carried out in the center of Tangier, said a security Source, specifying that the searches of the vehicle and the searches carried out in a home occupied by the suspects were allowed the seizure of 7,600 ecstasy-type tablets.
The continuation of the investigation in this case allowed the arrest of a fifth suspect immediately after his arrival on board a train from Marrakech and with in his possession a sum of money estimated at 160,000 dirhams which would be intended to the acquisition of psychotropic drugs.

The operation of pointing out the accused in the national security database revealed that three of them are the subject of wanted notices issued by the judicial police services in Tangier and Marrakech, for their alleged involvement in drug and psychotropic trafficking cases.
The defendants were placed in police custody at the disposal of the judicial investigation carried out under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to determine the possible ramifications of this criminal activity, concludes the same Source.
