Banjul, May 5 (APS) – The work of the 15th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) ended on Sunday at the Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Center in Banjul with the adoption of the final communiqué and the Banjul Declaration.

The 57 heads of state members of the organization or their representatives also adopted the Resolution on Palestine and Jerusalem.

They reaffirmed the OIC’s support for the Palestinian cause, according to the organization’s Secretary, Hussein Ibrahim Taha.

The Summit called for “an immediate end to Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip” and the opening of sustainable corridors allowing humanitarian delivery.

The Banjul resolution recalled the rights of Palestinians to a state with Jerusalem as its capital.

According to the Secretary-General, the summit also reiterated its support for legal action aimed at holding Israel accountable before the International Court of Justice and the courts for “heinous crimes” against the Palestinian people.

The 15th OIC Summit whose theme is “Strengthening unity and solidarity through dialogue for sustainable development” opened on Saturday in the presence of many heads of state.

Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye took part in the work.
