In its judgment, the Court declared that Christophe Loperetti was “an essential link” in this trafficking, which he carried out “with disregard for ” during the pandemic, estimated the judges of the Yverdon Court. They noted that the investigation had identified 49 false certificates, but that this figure was undoubtedly only “the tip of the iceberg” of its trafficking.

Guilty of forgery in titles, Christophe Loperetti was also convicted for two other cases, drunk driving and the detention in “deplorable conditions” of two horses in Grandson. This earned him a sentence of 90 days fine of 30 francs, again with a two-year suspended sentence.

The judges also ordered him to pay a compensation debt of 3,000 francs and a fine of 300 francs. The costs of the case, around 12,000 francs, are also his responsibility.

The sentence adopted by the Court is slightly lower than that requested by the Public Prosecutor’s , which had requested a 19-month suspended prison sentence for the three cases.

“Everything was blurry”

Wednesday morning in front of his judges, Christophe Loperetti admitted to having provided “at least” 49 false certificates to various acquaintances between 2020 and 2021. He claimed to have acted to help people “deprived of their fundamental rights because they refused to be injected with an experimental vaccine”.

He assured that he had made no profit and admitted that he had not understood, at the time, the illegality of his trafficking.

“Everything was blurry and I didn’t realize the implications. Looking back, I realize my mistake”

“A real drug dealer”

Conversely, prosecutor Christian Maire considered that Christophe Loperetti had acted “out of greed under the guise of ideals, with disregard for public health”. According to his calculations, the defendant, then unemployed and in financial difficulties, would have made a profit of between 2,450 and 12,250 francs.

For the prosecutor, the UDC elected official behaved like “a real drug trafficker”, with his supplier, his touts and his clients. He “made fun of the health of his fellow men” and showed “a crass lack of citizenship,” he added during his indictment.

He asked for a 16-month suspended prison sentence for forgery of securities. To this, he added three months for two other cases: drunk driving, one night in August 2022, and mistreatment of animals.

Christophe Loperetti actually owned two horses in Grandson, left in an unsuitable enclosure (muddy ground, dangerous objects nearby, poorly fixed barriers).

Aged 36 and a trained educator, Christophe Loperetti started politics in the socialist ranks before joining the Vert’liberales then the UDC. He became president of the Yverdon section last year and was reappointed to this role two weeks ago, on April 17 during the party assembly. (ats)
