A call for a strike was launched at the SNCF for the day of Tuesday May 21 by the Sud Rail Île-de-France union, reports France Inter on Thursday May 2. The railway workers intend to put pressure on the management of the SNCF before the planned negotiations on the bonuses paid for the Paris 2024 Games.

Disruptions are expected on the RER and Transilien. But the extent of the strike’s impact on traffic is not yet known.

According to the Sud Rail press release entitled “Contempt 2024”, the management of the SNCF is content “to distribute crumbs” to agents for the Olympics. A round table is planned between the management of the company and the unions the day after this call for strike, May 22. Currently, SNCF is offering compensation of 50 euros gross per day of presence this summer. Sud Rail asks for twice as much, net, including rest.

This Ile-de-France railway workers’ strike takes place in a context where the RATP has already revealed for its part what it plans for its agents. Metro drivers will receive a sum ranging from 1,600 to 2,500 euros for their presence at the time of the Games.
