The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, accompanied by several members of his government, participated in Friday prayers at the Grand Omarian Mosque in Dakar. Among the companions were Mary Teuw Niane, chief of staff of the president, Oumar Samba Bâ, secretary general of the presidency, El Malick Ndiaye, minister of air transport, Alpha Ba, secretary of state, and Abass Fall, deputy.

During this visit, the Caliph of the community, Thierno Madani Tall, as well as Imam Seydou Nourou Tall, welcomed the Head of State with greetings and thanks for his presence. The Caliph expressed his honor to receive the president, mentioning, “We are honored by your presence in this mosque and with the family of Cheikh Oumar Fouthiou Tall”. He also spoke about the mosque construction project, highlighting its importance for the city.

In response, President Faye affirmed the value of the venue as a spiritual gathering center and recognized the vital role of religious leaders in preserving the stability of the country. He assured that the State would continue to support the work of the mosque and work closely with religious authorities.

The president also requested prayers for the good of the country, expressing his desire to meet the expectations of the people. As a token of recognition, the Omarian family offered the President two significant books: one on Cheikh Oumar Foutiyou Tall and another retracing the story of Thierno Seydou Nourou.
