Already seen as a prototype, Illaoi confirms her role as a bulldozer in the casting of 2XKO. His impressive physical abilities, supported by a totem of stone and metal, still pale in comparison to the tentacles of his goddess. Illaoi can summon them with certain special moves, then trigger them with other attacks: a ranged spell to grab his victim, or a physical attack which will be followed by a good blow from his pseudopod to maintain the pressure. However, Illaoi’s opponents can hit the tentacles to make them disappear. The priestess must therefore keep pressure on her opponent to protect her setupotherwise, his infernal offensive will be forced to slow down.
Underwater pressure
Although we will have to wait a bit to get the details of the special moves, Riot Games is already sharing the Supers with us. At level 1, Crashing Waves grabs the opponent by the legs to smash them against the ground. Illaoi can take advantage of this to reposition a tentacle with a dedicated command. Level 2 Wrath of Nagakabouros summons several giant tentacles at once to magnify its offensive, but they remain as vulnerable as the basic pseudopods. Finally, the ultimate Test of Spirit catches the opponent at mid-range in a flash to deal massive damage. Nagakabouros is personally responsible for eating the victim’s soul. Note that this gives us a rare glimpse of the kraken goddess.
But 2XKO relies mainly on its 2v2 mechanics, and Illaoi will be no exception. When it leaves the field, its tentacles remain. It remains interesting to defend them because they will react to his assists. Enough to extend your combos to infinity and beyond or trap the opponent with a wave of gnons? Very probably.
2XKO plans to release in 2025. Until then, Illaoi will be playable at EVO Japan from April 27 to 29. Riot Games indicates that playtests remotely are arriving during the year and you just need to register on the official website to try to participate.
