A few short hours after Flurina Rigling’s 2nd place, Celine van Till won the silver medal in road cycling. In the T1-T2 category, the 33-year-old from Geneva believed in victory until the last few metres of this last women’s tricycle event.

Van Till launched the final sprint of this 28-kilometre event. She was overtaken by the Dane Emma Lund, who dominated the sprint. The Genevan finally narrowly beat the Dutch Marieke van Soest, third.

It is Van Till’s second silver medal since the start of the Paris Paralympics, having already won silver in Wednesday’s time trial.

Favorite, the 33-year-old Genevan is nevertheless delighted with this second Parisian metal.I am very satisfied with the money“, stressed the three-time winner of the World Cup general classification, who suffered a mishap beyond her control.”In the last ten kilometers I had no more water because my tank was broken and all the water had flowed out” explained Celine Van Till, who had never experienced an incident of this kind before but who managed to remain calm.

Valuable support

Céline Van Till leaves Paris with two silver medals, and these Paralympics are an experience she will never forget: “My family and other loved ones were there. Knowing that they encouraged me is wonderful, it really touched me. Until now, I was completely focused on the races and in my bubble, but now I will celebrate with them” she savors.
