A 24-year-old man from New Hampshire, United States, was arrested in Moncton, New Brunswick, in connection with an investigation into a case of child luring.
The arrest ofElan Charles Brest took place on July 11 in a hotel on the way mountain. Arriving at the scene, officers from the RCMP found the American in the company of someone under the age of 16.
According to the investigation, the accused communicated online with the minor before coming to Canada to meet him.
Elan Charles Brest appeared in Moncton Provincial Court by telephone the day after his arrest and will return on July 24.
In addition to child luring, Elan Charles Brest faces four other counts, namely contact, sexual assault and exploitation as well as production of child pornography.
Several objects, including sexual material, were also seized in the hotel room, specifies the RCMP in a statement released Tuesday.
