The number of electronic invoices exceeded 1.3 billion, an increase of 13 times, with a recorded turnover reaching 686 trillion VND (26.95 billion USD), or 7.4 times that of previous year.

This information was communicated on December 31 by Director General of the General Department of Taxation, Mai Xuân Thanh, during the conference to review financial and budgetary work in 2024 and propose tasks for 2025.

Tax authorities will continue to modernize technical systems and reduce costs related to electronic invoices, while encouraging consumers to demand these documents. The “Lucky Bill” program will be extended to change citizens’ habits.

According to Mai Xuân Thành, the focus will be on six sectors: catering, retail, pharmacy, leisure, gold trading and golf course, cable car and transportation services.

He urged ministries, sectors and local authorities to continue to work closely with the tax administration to intensify awareness among sellers and buyers of the benefits of using electronic invoices generated by cash registers.

He also insisted on the implementation of measures to combat state budgetary losses and the need to rigorously sanction invoice-related infractions.

The General Department of Taxation calls on the government to adopt incentives for the “Lucky Bill” program, to change consumer behavior.
