Things are not going well at the moment for Elton John. In August 2023, we learned that the artist was the victim of a domestic accident in Nicein his villa in Mont-Boron. It was a fall which forced the British composer to be briefly hospitalized in Monaco. Following the concern of his fans and rumors about his health, the father of two children broke his silence on Instagram. “I want to thank all my fans for checking in on me after the tabloids published a stupid story about me “looking fragile” in a wheelchair. The truth is that I am in excellent health, I love my shows and I play and sing at my best“, he wrote under several photos of himself. The singer with 300 million records sold has certainly recovered from his fall but is now facing another rather serious health problem. Indeed, Elton John announced he suffered an eye infection which left him with serious after-effects. The recovery seems to be complicated but the artist tries to remain optimistic despite the fact that he can no longer see anything in one eye… He had already spoken about the subject via his Instagram account a few months ago.
We could thus read: “During the summer, I had a serious eye infection which unfortunately left me with vision limited to one eye. I'm healing. But it's a very slow process. It will take some time before sight returns to the affected eye.”. “I am very grateful to the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family, who took great care of me over the last few weeks”concluded full of gratitude the husband of David Furnish, father of Zachary and Elijah.
Then, on November 25, Elton John was invited on the set of the show Good Morning America on ABC and made worrying statements. In full promotion for his documentary Never Too Lateavailable for streaming on Disney+ on December 13, he has given his news since this summer and it is not good. He explained that he is having difficulty creating his next album since he is simply unable to read the lyrics… “I don't know. It's been a long time since I did anything. Unfortunately, I lost sight in my right eye last July because I had an infection in the South of France”he detailed to journalist Robin Roberts.

He then indicated, seriously: “I haven’t seen him for four months. And my left eye isn't in the best shape either.”. A worrying announcement even if he wishes to keep “hope”. Frustrated at not being able to “go to the studio and record”he assured to do his best to heal. “We're taking an initiative to try to get better. But right now, that's the thing we're focusing on. It's never a chance that something like that would happen. And that kind of got me devastated: I can't see anything, read anything, look at anything”, he said. Wishing to end on a positive point, Elton John spoke of his luck to be so well supported during this difficult moment. “I am the luckiest person in the world. I am proud of my sons, of my attitude towards myself. I'm just very lucky and grateful,” he concluded.
