D-Day has arrived for Pascal Obispo ! This Friday, the singer released his new album “L'archipel des sequelles”, mainly composed of duets with singers such as Zazie, Elodie Frégé, Isabelle Boulay, Carla Bruni, Anne Sila and Nolwenn Leroy. At the same time, the singer of the hits “Fan” and “Tombé pour elle” continues her tour to celebrate her 30-year career. He will notably be in concert at the Accor Arena in on January 11, 2025 and, two days earlier, with our Belgian neighbors at the Forest National in Brussels. “ It was not possible not to do this concert in Forest. I recorded three quarters of my live shows there. The Belgian public made a considerable contribution, although I have not always been rewarded for my work in my country. I always had the feeling with you that I was appreciated with my many faults and my few qualities. » proclaims Pascal Obispo in the columns of Ciné Télé Revue.

“I don’t see myself limping on stage”

These two big concerts will be the opportunity to Pascal Obispo to celebrate its 60th anniversary with the public. A symbolic milestone in his life, which could mark a real turning point. In fact, the artist announces to our Belgian colleagues that he is preparing to retire! “ This may be my last album. This will be my last year before retirement. So you have to take advantage of it » he reveals to Ciné Télé Revue. And don’t see this as a simple sentence thrown into the air: “ But everyone retires at some point, so it's going to have to happen ». Car Pascal Obispo doesn't want to introduce himself in bad shape [et] limping on stage » : « You have to know how to decide to leave at some point. I have this moment in mind, like Jean-Jacques Goldman got it too ».

Did his recent health problems (he canceled several concerts and revealed that he avoided cancer) have the reason for this choice? “ Before music, there is life. And life is the most important thing » continues Pascal Obispo, specifying that he can express himself in other forms of art: “ Apart from music, I have painting, literature, writing. There are plenty of things to do in the second part of life… And I can continue to make music for my personal happiness, just at home, at home “. You will have understood, his next concerts could be his last!

“Physical problems accumulate”

Words which caused a lot of discussion and which the artist wanted to clarify this Friday on the TF1 morning show, “Hello!” : “ I don't like seeing old singers have difficulty moving and getting on stage, it terrifies me. I will continue to make music all the time, after the stage… This summer, I experienced a somewhat complicated event (…) It's getting better, but it's true that the physical problems are starting to 'accumulate. As age advances, that’s how it is. You have to think about the future… “. However, if the musician says he does not have a specific date for his departure, he announces that he is preparing a major album for his 60th birthday. Retirement is not for tomorrow!
