K-Maro at the Casino de : “Femme Like U records 6 to 8 million streams per month”

20 years is worth celebrating. It is on this occasion that K-Maro returns to the stage in , at the Casino de , this Tuesday October 15 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his famous hit, “Femme Like U.”

Released in 2004, this song was a true musical phenomenon. At the time, the single had sold 5 million copies and the title won the song of the year trophy in 2004 at the NRJ Music Awards ceremony.

20 years later, the title continues to travel. “Between 6 and 8 million streaming per month” estimates K-Maro to our colleagues at Le Parisien.

K-Maro: a look back at his career

Born in Lebanon, Cyril Kamar, his first name, left his country at the age of 11, with his parents. A true lover of music and rap, he created his first group at the age of 15 and founded his first label at the age of 23. Since then, he has produced many artists including the best known in France, Shy’M.

“Femme Like U” a “tit was immediately a tidal wave in France” says K-Maro, a country he knows well and loves, having lived there for 14 years. Today he lives in Canada with his wife and 3-year-old daughter.. He explains that he went back to school, completed a master’s degree in finance and today “produce the artists I love, combining music and contemporary art. I give the concerts I want. I have always been free, it’s my greatest pride.”

Cyril Kamar also wrote a book, titled Renaissances in which he tells his story and that of his parents, to whom he pays homage. “I always saw my parents work, move forward, be optimistic. I felt indebted, because they had the courage from exile to offer us the best.”
