5. Julien Lieb | “Again”

The Dailymotion player is loading…

The unfortunate finalist of the “Star Academy” found in music an escape to overcome painful obstacles. And it’s true that when listening to his songs, Julien Lieb demonstrates a poignant capacity for interpretation. Evoking the fear of losing a loved one, echoing the disappearance of his father, his song “Encore une fois”, in piano-voice, nevertheless suffers from a somewhat austere universe, with a slight lack of modernity. The few echoes based on certain words and the pretty suspended moments do not mask a faltering creative ambition. If the title does not really have the stature of a strong single, its remix signed Wolfgvng brings more depth and ideas to this proposition to make it more solid. This is the right direction!

4. Candice | “Wilted Flowers”

A somewhat mistreated personality in the “Star Academy” adventure, Candice was able to unite around her a great outpouring of sympathy which materialized on the tour. For her debut, the young artist with a crystal-clear voice benefited from a mentor of choice in the person of Tayc. Acting as co-composer on his first track “Fleurs fanées”, the king of afrolove managed to bring the singer out of her natural reserve to instill confidence behind the microphone. With its swaying pop-soul arrangements, its attractive percussion, the welcome contribution of a saxophone and its two-part chorus, the song sounds like a great promise for the future. We would perhaps have liked a slightly more powerful production, and perhaps even a duet version with Tayc to mark the occasion. Either way, a talent is born!

EXCLUDED – Star Academy: here is the anthem of the new season (and you will be surprised!)

3. Djebril Slatni | “Privileges”

Djebril doesn’t hold back on “Privilèges”, the latest single from the students of the “Star Academy” to be released. “ Sabotaged » for many by the production during his adventure, the young artist loudly asserts his identity on this dark R&B track, with production layered with echoes and percussion. If his voice is honey, his words are incisive: “ This is not the story I expected », « Naive I was to believe that my place was here », « These idiots took me for their friend, the old Djebril is dead “… It’s hard to be more explicit! A little disconcerting at first listen, the piece, dark and in direct line with his previous title “Le temps”, serves more as an outlet than a real radio single. But he is inhabited by an unfailing determination that inspires, a beautiful musicality and an interesting mix between sharp flow and harmonious singing. Be warned, Djebril has talent to spare. We’re waiting for the sequel!

2. Helena | “Summer Body”

Certainly, the most beautiful progression. Having never sung outside of her room before joining the “Star Academy”, Helena revealed herself over the weeks as a raw talent with very high potential. Propelled to the semi-final against Pierre, the Belgian artist, with a delicate and powerful voice, offered a superb introduction with the hit “Aimée pour de vérité”. And she’s been doing it again for a few weeks with “Summer Body”, a piano song which has been a great success (8.6 million plays on Spotify). Opening up about her complexes, the musician touches on universality by delivering a beautiful message of self-acceptance that speaks to the youngest, but also to everyone. An artist in tune with her times who has just received her first nomination for the NRJ Music Awards. His post-“Star Academy” looks bright!

1. Lénie | “Without you”

One surprise can hide another! Knowing she was expected at the turning point, Lénie, youngest of the adventure, model student and public favorite who many imagined capable of winning the “Star Academy”, preferred to take her time to draw the contours of her artistic universe. And to trust herself to write her own compositions. If the title “I’m more afraid”, flirtatious, pop, vitaminized but a little light, offers Lénie the opportunity to display her dancing talents but sounds a little dated, it is the ballad “Sans toi”, released in stride and disarmingly accurately, which capsizes the audience to the heart. By laying herself bare on a few piano notes to share the pain linked to the absence of a father, the singer takes us crescendo into her emotional cyclone thanks to careful production and demonstrates real qualities as a performer. Stunning !
