Posted from Marseille and dated September 18, the missive surprised and moved the novelist. To “La Dépêche”, the young father said that he was in the elevator with his sons when he understood that the letter he had just opened was that of his idol.
“It was such a surprise that I instantly put it back in the envelope. (…) I had to reopen it slowly to appreciate this beautiful moment,” he declared to the daily.
After various attempts to send the book to Jean-Jacques Goldman, who lives mainly in London, the professor succeeded through his fan club.
Jean-Jacques Goldman’s missive, written by hand on letterhead, begins with “Thank you Thibault”. The singer-songwriter said he was “very touched” by the book and the accompanying letter from the author. He wished her to receive one “as kind and moving in turn”.
The kindness of Jean-Jacques Goldman will put a nice spotlight on this book published by the small Toulouse publishing house Éditions du caillou. “Journal d’un fan”, signed LT, tells the story of a great admirer of Jean-Jacques Goldman who tries everything to meet him. Any resemblance between the character and the author is not coincidental. Thibault Christophe is a fan of the singer and is a musician in his spare time.
