He has lost a lot of his splendor by trying to appear very poor and very ignorant. But Eric Arnoux, designer of luxury villas, chalets and yachts, who has fallen from grace since serial failures, has retained the energy to fight, line by line, against the countless accusations listed in the indictment of the Geneva public prosecutor’s office. On the second day of his trial, the French businessman denies having lived like a mogul by dipping into the coffers. “I never needed these companies, only my personal money allowed me to live.”

During this hearing, which progresses at the slow pace of the financial files, Eric Arnoux denies having taken advantage of the situation, even if it means precipitating the fall of the various entities specializing in high-end real estate. “At the time, I provided for my lifestyle on my own and I injected funds into companies to ensure their development.” The defendant adds: “I had other activities that made me earn money.” Which ones? “I worked as an intermediary and received commissions in real estate sales. I worked in Africa in the oil field. I also bought and sold two villas in Geneva, making a profit each time.”
