The former stronghold of the Prince-Bishops of Basel is home to the Jura justice system, as well as a prison. For our column “Hearts of the profession”, the thirty-year-old reveals to us the different facets of his profession in a site steeped in history. Far from the life of a lord, Cyril Grossenbacher likes to be useful and that starts in the morning by opening the doors to make the castle accessible. Apart from a little cleaning, the Taignon must also manage the presence of companies carrying out work on the site, manage the cleaning ladies, carry out maintenance of the surrounding area, or even some small jobs: “all that is within our scope , anything that can be done alone.”
He admits, when he was hired in 2019, “one of the first things I did was visit the castle”. And it was the view that first impressed him. So the courtyard in the middle of the historic buildings remains his favorite place. /ncp
