Such a long absence that she explains “for several reasons: mental and physical fatigue, I really needed to take time for myself and perhaps quite simply to get to know the woman I have become”, she said. confided in the show “7 à 8” on TF1, Saturday January 12. His daily life was made up of simple things: “A day of TV, walking around, going to see friends, going to see family, it was very pleasantly boring, sorting your clothes, tidying up…” then to add with humor: “Well, I have German blood so things are tidy at home!”
Several trials in his life
Patricia Kaas' life was punctuated by trials: death of her mother in 1989 when she was 23, of her father shortly after, suicide of one of her brothers… “I loved singing but singing was a way for me to cry out my pain too, the public gave me the love that I no longer had at home,” she explained.
In “7 to 8”, Patricia Kaas returned to her choice not to have children. “I didn't miss it and that's how it was, it had to be like that, it's my choice. The moment I wanted it was too late, and that's it. Life told me gave something else.” In her autobiography “The Shadow of My Voice”, released in 2011, the singer revealed that she had an abortion. A choice that she still accepts today. “We're going to give birth to a child we can't take care of, because we don't have the time, or because he wasn't wanted, so he's going to grow up with that? It's completely Stupid. We have the right not to understand it, but that’s how it is.”
She's in love again
Throughout her 8 years of retirement, Patricia Kaas was single. “I didn’t want a love story.” At the beginning of 2024, she met a man about whom she did not give details. “I had to free myself from something to make this evening simpler,” she believes. “I'm 58 years old, so love is obviously different. We know life, we like a certain independence, it's important. We can be there but not always. I also need to feel free, not to feel observed in my actions, etc.”
“Will people recognize me?”
At 58 years old, Patricia Kaas will return to the forefront and enter the living room of viewers of “The Voice” on Saturday evenings in the coming weeks. She agreed to become one of the coaches not without apprehension. “Will people recognize me? I haven't been here for 8 years. Will the talents come to me?
