Why was this American rap superstar spotted wearing a jacket with the faces of Jean-Luc Mélenchon and Marine Le Pen?

This is the unusual image of the start of the Christmas holidays. American rapper Quavo, former member of the group Migosposted on Saturday December 21 on Instagram a carousel of photos retracing his year 2025.

In one of the photos, we see the artist, who seems to be arriving or leaving from an evening, wear a leather jacket decorated with the faces of Jean-Luc Mélenchon (LFI) and Marine Le Pen (RN). Above their heads (separated by the jacket's zipper), a huge “IT'S A MATCH!” Below, the logo of the famous dating site Tinder.

The message is clear: the creators of the garment in question believe that the French far left and far right have a lot in common. Either. But that doesn't explain how a US rap superstar ended up with a gala dress (accompanied, of course, by huge gold chains) featuring a woman and a French politician.

It would seem that this jacket with very political attire is from the CouCoubebe 75108 brand, a young Parisian brand created in 2016 in the 18th arrondissement of , by an anonymous person called “Kanoush”.

“Claire Chazal Hardcore Fanclub”

“The multi-disciplinary artist draws his inspiration from what he observes around him, whether it be politics, world news, conspiracy theories or even the heritage of his parents, who exert a direct influence on his work”, we learn from the brand's website.

“Aesthetically, this elusive artist finds inspiration in creating his own urban art, such as designing fake advertising displays for fictitious drugs or reinterpreting existing political messages. He also sees potential in collage artthe music and the clothes that surround it.”

The online store is full of jeans, jackets and other t-shirts with a style that could be described as “neo-punk”mostly black and gray, with large patches of color and messages in English or French.

This goes from a mention of amateur football club from a small town in Cher, Saint-Martin-d'Auxigny (we imagine that Kanoush is from there), face of Claire Chazal on another leather jacket (the piece in question is called “Claire Chazal Hardcore Fanclub”), going through cryptic messages or manifestos like “If I become poor again I will commit suicide”. The products are sold between 60 euros (for caps) to 750 euros on average (for jackets).

The muses of this apparently ultra-trendy brand are American rappers like ASAP Rockyor, if we are to believe his latest Instagram story, Quavo from Migosvery proud to carry the French political opposition on his back.

It is not certain that they understand exactly the kind of messages they are conveyingbut for a French person, it is always refreshing to see that our art, as political as it may be, is still exported.
