The prestigious magazine Time awarded Elton John the title of “Icon of the Year” in a profile published Thursday where the British singer receives tributes from Dua Lipa and Chappell Roan.

“Elton John’s songs are perfectly and masterfully written and this is what allows him to reach millions – even billions – of people,” Chappell Roan testifies in the pages of the American publication.

The magazine Time also surveyed Dua Lipa, British singer invited by Sir Elton John in the studio for the piece Cold Heart, an amalgam of his successes Rocket Man, Kiss the Bride, Sacrifice et Where’s the Shoorah? launched in 2021.

“His music has been the soundtrack of my entire life, from the very beginning, so I wasn’t going to pass up this opportunity to sing alongside one of my musical heroes,” she said.

His favorites

The magazine’s portrait Time is accompanied by a short video where Elton John in turn extols the merits of emerging artists. Asked by the publication about his musical favorites for 2024, the singer named his three favorite tracks of the year: Good Luck, Babe! de Chappell Roan, Please, Please, Please by Sabrina Carpenter and Birds of a Feather de Billie Eilish.

As for his wishes for 2025, the Brit spoke of his desire to see people be “more tolerant of others”, citing his dreams of peace and oneness for the coming 12 months.
