The group Indochine has just had another huge success with its new album “Babel Babel”. The album has had a huge start in the charts.
Indochine is back, with a 14th album. Thus, “Babel Babel” is particularly committed, since it evokes Ukraine or the fate of Iranian women. However, Nikola Sirkis, the leader of the group, prefers to evoke a project “hopeful“. He explains:
“What I say to myself when everything is going wrong is: ‘On the road to the future’. That could have been the title of the album.”.
Oli de Sat adds on this subject:
“Optimistic, I don’t know, but we must not lose hope, we must not let ourselves be invaded by the darkness that television and radio want to impose on us. We should have a quota of good news per day.”.
In addition, this album is a mix of genres. During the year 2025, it will be defended during an “Arena Tour”, a major tour of the Zénith. In the meantime, “Babel Babel” is breaking real records. Unsurprisingly, the album starts directly at number one in sales in France. In one week, the album sold 55,404 copies. Consequently, Indochine has just signed the second best start of the year, just behind Les Enfoirés. This figure is particularly solid, in the face of the collapse of record sales over time. Indochine therefore crosses time brilliantly, marking a form of timelessness.
Indochine likes to be close to its audience
As the sale of tickets for the new Indochine tour begins this Saturday, September 14, 2024, Nicola Sirkis wanted to speak about their price. Indeed, it fluctuates between 55 and 75 euros, which is very rare for stars of this caliber. It is true that the group has always wanted to stay close to its fans. And this involves allowing them to access its concerts, thanks to the establishment of an affordable price. During an interview with RTBFNicolas Sirkis spoke about the subject: “We impose our ticket prices“. He continues:
“When you are an artist, you should not leave everything in the hands of your concert producer. You have to be aware of everything.”.
The artist is also outraged by such a situation:
“We are lucky to have an audience behind us and to have this power. With Indochine, there will never be any ‘golden squares’ or things like that. Because we refuse that. We are hated, especially me, by many show producers, because we are not here to make money.”.
He adds:
“I am amazed that, unfortunately, the VIP seats [soient] those that leave the fastest. We are in excessive capitalism, we have to accept it, but we have the power to refuse it from time to time”.
