Eric Guenther, keyboardist for The Contortionist, has addressed fans' concerns regarding the band's prolonged absence of new releases. In a recent statement on social media, he confirmed that the band was working on new Music and explained the reasons for the delays.
A frustrating silence for fans
The Contortionist's latest studio album, Clairvoyantdates back to 2017. Since then, fans have been eagerly awaiting new music (despite the EP Our Bones in 2019). On a recent post from the group, a fan expressed his dissatisfaction: “Friends… it’s been 2621 days since Clairvoyant was released. If you're planning on not making new music, let us know, so we can stop asking you every post.”
Another added: “The silence becomes insulting. Very strange strategy. It would take five minutes to write a paragraph giving us news, but they’ve been keeping us in the dark for years.”
However, some fans have tried to qualify these criticisms by pointing out that personal events probably delayed the creative process. One mentioned marriages, births and the death of the singer's father.

A sincere response from Eric Guenther
Eric Guenther chose to respond directly to fans in the comments to clarify the situation. He declared: “To end this topic, I will speak for myself and the group in saying that the list of both tragic and magnificent events that each of us has had to go through is too long and too personal to list here .”
He confirmed that the band had recorded new material but also shared the members' frustration with the delays: “If you feel frustrated about the lack of new music, imagine what that means to us, who have centered our lives around the creation of this music…”
To conclude on an optimistic note, Guenther added: “The new tracks rock, and we’re really excited about them.”
