It is at the Bataclan that a memorable evening for Metalcore fans, and an exceptional bill, takes place: Imminence, accompanied by Aviana and Allt. Unfortunately, it was at the end of Allt's performance that I arrived at the Bataclan. The Swedish group, characterized by metalcore with progressive accents, made me want to see them again soon. But it is with pleasure that I attend the sets of Aviana and Imminence, who delivered spectacular performances, each leaving an impression in a unique way.

Aviana: A striking and mysterious visual show
Aviana immediately captivated the room with an explosive blend of sonic power and visual mystery. All the musicians, with the exception of the singer, were masked, reinforcing the dark and intense atmosphere. The masks added an almost disturbing aura, accentuating the brutality of their riffs and the contrast with the voice of their frontman, the only visible face, which carried all the expressiveness of the group. The scenography combined these masked silhouettes with bright lights, strobe effects and jets of smoke, creating an enigmatic boundary between the artists and the audience.
These plays of light, in harmony with their pieces, made each passage immersive and almost hypnotic. The frontman seemed all the more connected to the crowd, single-handedly carrying the emotional interface between the audience and the sonic power deployed by his masked partners in the background.
Imminence: An almost ritual entry
After a well-executed break, it's Imminence's turn to take the stage, back at the Bataclan where they charmed everyone as the opening act for In Flames almost two years ago. The atmosphere of the legendary room then shifts towards a captivating solemnity. Eddie Berg appears wearing a long black hooded coat, adding an almost ritualistic dimension to the opening of their set. Behind him, projections representing stained glass windows bathe the group in a colorful and subdued light, evoking a sacred atmosphere, as if each note played rose from the nave of a cathedral. This careful staging gives a solemn character to their entrance, reinforcing the emotion which permeates the rest of the evening.
This introduction takes on its full meaning when Eddie, violin in hand, begins the first notes of Come Hell or High Waterthe audience suspended in this theatrical intensity. The titles that follow one another seem to resonate like incantations in this almost mystical atmosphere, while the lights, subdued and almost religious, create a striking contrast with the pure and raw energy of the music.
Little by little, throughout the set, the mystical atmosphere gradually gives way to raw power, one of the key ingredients of the Swedish group, one of the most promising in recent years. This increase in intensity occurs when the singer finally gets rid of his long coat, a symbolic gesture which magnifies the musical expression of the group and its nuances of emotion. This transition marks a turning point, turning the evening into a discharge of pure rage. This movement seems to embody the release of energy long contained in the room. This increase in intensity gradually wins over the public, who, until then suspended in a restrained euphoria, exults with the music.
The setlist, skillfully orchestrated, highlights titles from the latest and excellent album The Blackreleased in spring 2024, as Heaven Shall Burn (no, not the German engineering group), Continuumor Death by a Thousand Cuts. The evening also presents several titles which have already thrilled Imminence fans, such as the vibrant Infectious, Chasing Shadowsand of course the punchy Temptationstill as striking.
The end of the performance sees the Bataclan plunge into a form of frenetic communion, where each cry and each chord seem to release accumulated and buried emotions, as if locked in each of us and here gradually released by the force of the live performance, throughout the concert. .

Two complementary and striking performances
The performances of Aviana and Imminence matched perfectly: on the one hand, Aviana with her play of masks, intense lights and raw energy; on the other, Imminence, where the solemn and almost mystical staging gave way to a liberating energy, giving a ritual dimension to his set. Together, they offered an evening (organized under the leadership of Veryshow) where the music and the scenography magnified each other, leaving an unforgettable imprint in the minds of the spectators at the Bataclan.
