The former bassist of the legendary group remains involved in important decisions.
Queen is the center of attention right now. Indeed, rumors of a possible return had circulated and even validated by Bryan May. The latter who is a fan of a 100% female British group, spoke about the relationship with the group’s former bassist John Deacon. In a recent interview with the magazine MojoBrian May explained that, although Deacon is no longer involved in the group’s day-to-day activities, it still plays an important role in strategic decisions:
“John always has a say in important decisions,” May said. “We get messages saying he approves of what we’re doing, even though he no longer wants to be involved creatively. We respect that. Unfortunately, we can no longer consult with Freddie.”
Bryan May continues and explains that all decisions made by he and Roger Taylor are often thought to agree with Freddie Mercury and John Deacon:
“We’ve worked together so long that Roger and I know pretty well what they would have said. This collaboration lasted longer than many marriages.”
This is not the first time that the musician has spoken about his former colleague and his relationship with him. A year ago, Bryan May had already discussed the retirement of the bassist who failed to get into Music after the tragic death of Freddie Mercury:
“John was particularly sensitive to stress. We all struggled to get over the loss of Freddie, but I think it was especially hard for John. He simply told us: ‘I can’t continue like this.’”
