The version of The hymn to love by Celine Dion, performed by the Quebec star during the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower, is available in streaming from the night of Wednesday to Thursday.
The Quebec icon had published a few hours earlier on social networks a short extract from her performance on July 26 with the only message “10.10.24”, triggering a torrent of speculation from her fans on social networks.
“Today, Celine Dion officially shares her breathtaking performance of Hymn to love (Live at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games)”, now available online in downloadable format or for continuous listening, producer Sonic Music indicated in a press release.
“With the recent release of his documentary, I am: Celine Dionviewers understood the challenges posed by the devastating effects of stiff person syndrome, thereby reaffirming Céline’s status as one of the greatest voices of our time,” he added.
The performance of the singer with 250 million albums sold was one of the highlights of the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, because it was her first performance since she announced that she had the syndrome of the stiff person.
This rare neurological pathology, with no known cure, has forced her to abandon tours and residency concerts in recent years.
The 56-year-old Quebecer can live normally between the manifestations of the disease but until now could no longer envisage world tours or her residency concerts in Las Vegas.
The recording of this performance is made available on a symbolic date, for the 61ste anniversary of the death of Edith Piaf, who died in 1963 at the age of 47.
Celine Dion had already performed at the opening of the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.
Other songs from the Paris Olympics have already been released on the platforms, in particular the song Parade composed by Victor Le Masne or Nightcall of the Kavinsky/Angèle/Phoenix trio as well as Mea Culpa (Ah! It’ll be fine!) de Gojira, with Marina Viotti.
