The American star, who took time to conquer France, begins a French tour this Thursday, May 9, for which 250,000 tickets have been sold. “Libé” went to meet his fans.

It seems a long way from the time when, in 2011, Taylor Swift sang in a half-empty Parisian Zénith, while she displayed sold out in American stadiums. American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift’s sixth tour, which started in the United States in March 2023, has already garnered more than a billion dollars (or nearly 930 million euros) in revenue. From this Thursday, May 9, she is moving to France. The pop star is at La Défense Arena in Nanterre until Sunday, before two evenings at Groupama Stadium on June 2 and 3, in Lyon. In total, 250,000 tickets were sold.

Even his most ardent fans didn’t expect it. “I was surprised that she announced four concerts at La Défense Arena, because it is still the largest hall in Europe. I felt that there were more and more swifties [admirateurs de Taylor Swift, ndlr] in France but not to the point of filling La Défense and the Groupama Stadium so many times,” confides Morgane Giuliani, author of Taylor Swift: the rebel who became an icon which has just been published by Talent éditions. Faced with this renewed popularity in the homeland of the diehard Gauls, Libé went to meet his French audience.

“Taylor Swift, it touches the intimate”

Marie, 22, lives a stone’s throw from La Défense, but unfortunately she was unable to get a concert ticket for the Parisian dates. So she fell back on Lyon. “I managed to get seats in the VIP pit for 160 euros”she rejoices
