“They got a little lost”; Michael “Moose” Thomas Says He ‘Couldn’t Re-Enter’ Bullet For My Valentine

Michael “Moose” Thomas, the founding drummer of Bullet For My Valentine, recently opened up about his departure from the band and his new venture with Kill The Lights. In an interview with V13’s Graham Finney, Thomas discussed the differences between his experiences in the two bands and expressed his feelings on the current direction of Bullet For My Valentine.

Recalling his time with Bullet For My Valentine, Thomas highlighted the contrast between the atmosphere of his former band and that of his current band. He emphasized the freedom and pleasure he found in Kill The Lights, contrasting with the pressure and rigidity he felt in Bullet For My Valentine. Thomas acknowledged the importance of his time with Bullet For My Valentine, but clarified that he did not wish to return to the group due to creative differences.

Regarding Bullet For My Valentine’s upcoming tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut album, The Poison, Thomas maintained a diplomatic stance, stating that he had moved on from that chapter of his life and wanted to good luck to the group in its projects.

The Poison marked a pivotal moment in Bullet For My Valentine’s career, propelling them to international recognition and cementing their status as heavyweights of the Metalcore scene. Despite the album’s success, Thomas parted ways with the band in 2017, paving the way for Jason Bowld to replace him.

During a candid interview with Robb Flynn for the No Fuckin’ Regrets With Robb Flynn podcast in February 2020, Thomas revealed the circumstances surrounding his departure from Bullet For My Valentine. He says he felt left out and ended up being excluded from the band, despite wanting to return to touring after the birth of his child.
