France Télévisions will launch its new TV channel: Paris 2024 on May 8. Accessible via the france.tv application and website and offered in partnership with TVU Networks, the latter will allow viewers to follow the journey of the Olympic flame.

The press release published at the beginning of April 2024 by the group, which mentions a “first in broadcast history”, underlines that 10 hours of live broadcast will be offered every day on this new channel in order to follow the 1,625 km route of the legendary emblem of the Olympic Games.

The official broadcaster of the 2024 Olympics explains having opted for “solutions powered by cloud technology, 5G and Starlink and the use of drones”. He adds in passing that this new method is consistent with his commitments “for more energy and environmental sobriety”.

By opting for a 100% cloud approach, we save several dozen tons of CO2 emissions compared to traditional methods thanks to remote production, from France Télévisions headquarters.

Romuald Rat, TechLab and AI director of France Télévisions

France Télévisions, which explains that it relies on the tools and ecosystem of TVU Networks, indicates that this brand new approach “applies to all aspects of event production: live feed management, multi-camera production, graphic design management, comments, audio mixing, intercommunication between teams, and diffusion”.

This innovation gives editorial teams the ability to produce more content with greater adaptability and responsiveness, while controlling costs and maintaining the quality standards dear to France Télévisions.

Frédéric Brochard, director of technologies and information systems at France Télévisions
