Kerry King clarifies that Slayer reunification will not lead to an album or a tour

In an exclusive interview with Metal Hammer magazine, Slayer’s iconic guitarist Kerry King shed light on the band’s much-talked-about reunion for upcoming festivals. Contrary to fan speculation, King clarified that the reunion shows will not mean a return to recording or extensive touring for the legendary Thrash Metal band.

Following the band’s farewell tour in 2019, the announcement of Slayer’s reunion came as a surprise to many, especially considering the recent unveiling of Kerry’s solo project, From Hell I Rise. Regarding the timing of Slayer’s return, King admitted that “it wasn’t the ideal time,” emphasizing that the reunion is just a nod to the group’s legacy rather than ‘a strategic move towards a large-scale renaissance.

Dispelling rumors of animosity, Kerry clarified that he has not communicated with bassist/vocalist Tom Araya since the reunion was announced. While recognizing their divergent interests, King affirmed their professionalism by stating: “When it comes to rehearsal, I won’t have any problems coming up.”

Despite the excitement surrounding Slayer’s return, Kerry remains focused on his solo career, suggesting that Slayer’s reunion concerts are more about commemorating their legacy than starting a new chapter.

The upcoming festivals, scheduled for September and October, will feature the classic Slayer lineup, with Gary Holt on guitar and Paul Bostaph on drums.
