“Does death make us stop dancing together?”: Eddy de Pretto talks about his song inspired by a tragic event

Eddy de Pretto was the guest of RTL info “Dans Vous” this Thursday, April 18. The artist confides in the inspiration behind his song “Urgences 911” which is part of his third album, linked to a tragedy that occurred in last year.

Eddy de Pretto spoke about the origin of his song “Urgences 911”, in connection with the tragic drama of the assassination of Agnès Lassalle. In February 2023, the 53-year-old teacher was killed by one of her students in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, France.

The inspiration for the song seems to draw its Source from poetry, as the artist explains: “As an author, I always try to put images on the things I experience.”

What inspired Eddy de Pretto was the dance of Agnès Lassalle’s partner, Stéphane Voirin, during her funeral. “That brought me a song, where I said to myself, how far can we dance together? Does death make us stop dancing together?”

The artist concludes by explaining that for him, we will always continue to dance with the person with whom we have lived the majority of our time.
