Iconic band Linkin Park marked their return by performing on American television for the first time in years. On September 17, 2024, the band performed their new single, The Emptiness Machine, on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The performance was part of the promotion for their album From Zero, which is set to be released on November 15.

A strong comeback

After several years of silence, Linkin Park reformed earlier this month with a new lineup. The band, known for popularizing the Nu Metal genre in the 2000s, now has a partially renewed lineup. Mike Shinoda, the band’s charismatic singer and guitarist, as well as bassist Dave “Phoenix” Farrell and DJ Joe Hahn, have returned to the lineup. However, there have been some notable changes to the lineup: Emily Armstrong has joined the band as lead singer, succeeding Chester Bennington, who passed away in 2017. The drummer role, previously held by Rob Bourdon, is now filled by Colin Brittain, while original guitarist Brad Delson remains a studio-only member, replaced on stage by Alex Feder.

A major performance

In their first live television performance, Linkin Park delivered an energetic performance of The Emptiness Machine, the first single from their upcoming album. The track, which blends the distinctive sounds of nu metal with more modern influences, seems to mark a new era for the band. Alongside the musical performance, Mike Shinoda also took part in an interview with Jimmy Fallon, discussing the creative process behind the album From Zero and the band’s return to the stage after a long absence.

A world tour in full development

Linkin Park isn’t stopping there: the musicians are currently on a world tour to celebrate their return. After two inaugural concerts, they are preparing to perform in several major international cities. The group will notably visit Hamburg, London and Seoul in the coming weeks, before concluding with a show in Bogotá, Colombia, on November 11.
