When we talk about science fiction in cinema, there’s plenty to do. Between the essential classics like Interstellarwhich proved that Christopher Nolan’s vision of space was not so far from reality, or recent saga like Dunewho will soon be entitled to his third film, which will be the last with his cult director, there is an infinite number of productions that will delight us. But sometimes, it’s these little lesser-known nuggets that surprise us the most.
This is the case of Time Trap. This film which explores time travel in an ultra-original way. It came out 7 years ago, and if you haven’t seen it yet, it’s available on Netflix. 95 minutes of suspense, which you absolutely must watch!
A time travel film that keeps you in suspense until the last moment
Time travel is far from a new concept. We’ve seen it everywhere, on TV and in the cinema. But Time Trap manages to stand out by bringing a different, much more original approach. How ? By adding mystery, claustrophobia and a good dose of suspense. Result : we don’t stop for a second, and its finale is incredible!

The story follows a group of students who go searching for a missing professor in mysterious caves. But, as you might expect, things don’t go as planned. Very quickly, they discover that these caves are far from normal: here, time flows in a completely different way, defying all the laws of physics. Throughout the film, neither the characters nor we, the spectators, can understand what is happening, nor how they are going to get out of it. Suspense guaranteed!
-But caves aren’t just weird. They are also full of secrets and dangers. Between unexpected surprises and mysterious encounters, our heroes will have to face a whole bunch of challenges that put their logic to the test. This confined setting further adds to the tension, and This is what keeps us glued to our screen.
Okay, it’s not a perfect film, but… it’s definitely worth it!
Ok, we’re not going to lie to you, Time Trap obviously has some flaws. But, that’s not surprising for an independent film with a limited budget. Despite everything, he comes through with flying colors and clearly deserves attention. The review is mostly positive, with ratings varying between 60 and 70% on sites like Rotten Tomatoes.
If you’re looking for a science fiction film that’s out of the ordinary, don’t hesitate. Time Trap is available on Netflix, and you won’t be bored for a second!
