Bank manager arrested after US$70,000 theft

A New Jersey bank manager has been accused of stealing US$70,000 from the cash registers of her financial establishment.

After a months-long investigation, Amira White, 43, was charged with two counts of third-degree theft by deception, according to prosecutors cited by NBC News on Monday.

The prosecutor’s office was alerted about an alleged theft of customer funds at a bank in Bergen County, the American media reported.

Investigations by the prosecutor’s office’s financial crimes unit later revealed that Ms. White had stolen US$54,648 from cash registers.

In addition, the suspect had made a withdrawal of US$15,000 from a customer’s account to place this money in the balance of her own cash register in order to conceal the theft, it was added.
