Explosive podcast: May D talks about her regrettable decision with P-Square and Akon

According to May D, P-Square did not initially plan to sign him under their label. They had simply promised to help him gain visibility, as they had done with Jay Martins and other artists. May D also explained that Akon was seduced by her song « Chop My Money » and wanted to collaborate. The American artist even insisted that the filming of the clip take place in the United States.

During his stay in America, Akon called him to his office for a chat. He asked if he had an official contract with P-Square, to which May D responded in the negative. Akon then offered him several business opportunities and agreed to pay for his ticket back to the United States in order to start their collaboration.

But, for the sake of transparency, May D chose to reveal this conversation to P-Square. Looking back, he said he would have preferred to keep this information to himself.
