Here are the 16 most anticipated horror films of 2025

Since we are reaching the end of 2024, we can already take a look at 2025. As usual, the coming year has some big horror stories in store for us. At the twilight of 2024, we offer you here 16 highly anticipated horror films for the year 2025.

Wolf Man (January 15)

After having amazed us with his rereading of Invisible Manthe filmmaker Leigh Whannell tackles another iconic figure of horror cinema: the werewolf. The director of Insidious 3 and of Upgrade therefore attacks another pillar of Universal Pictureswhose very first adaptation was released in 1941. The first trailer has already dropped, and Wolf Man promises to be a violent, trashy, disturbing rereading of the werewolf film. The feature film, produced by Blumhousepromises boddy-horror, screamer and a good dose of adrenaline in this muscular monster film.

Companion (January 29)

Produced by the smart guys behind Barbarous, and produced by Drew Hancock, Companion seems to be a highly effective sequestration film somewhere between Fresh et The Menu. On the casting side, Jack Quaid (The Boys) et Rupert Friend are there to put on the show.

Attendance (February 5)

Presence will mark the return of Steven Soderbergh. He who was supposed to retire a few years ago returns with a first horror film led by the immense Lucy Liu. The story seems quite classic since it tells how a family will have to face demons in their new home. Some spectators would have left the screening rooms in the face of too much stress. It gives color!

The Monkey (February 19)

After his excellent Longlegs released this year, Osgood Perkins is already back with a new horror film: The Monkey. Taken by Theo James et Elijah Woodthe story tells of two twin brothers who find an old toy that belonged to their father in their attic. A series of gruesome deaths begins to occur around them. With The Monkeythe son of the famous Anthony Perkins (Psychosis) takes on the traditional haunted object film. A fairly simplistic starting postulate but if The Monkey is only half as good as Longlegs we sign anyway.

Sinners (5 mars)

With Sinners, the director Ryan Cooglerto whom we owe in particular the two Black Panthertackles his first horror film. For the occasion, he finds his sidekick Michael B Jordan. Sinners will tell the story of how two twins (definitely) find themselves in their hometown in Louisiana. The story takes place in the middle 1930s prohibition. Sinners should draw a lot of inspiration from vampire films to offer violent, gory entertainment, where the hemoglobin will flow freely.

Until Dawn (23 avril)

David F. Sandberg we already owe him In the dark (2016) et Annabelle 2 (2017), as well as a great YouTube channel with awesome horror shorts. After being scattered in the DCEU by doing both Shazam, the filmmaker is back to horror with Until Dawn. Adaptation of the eponymous video game, the feature film promises to be a hardcore and chilling survival game in snowy mountains.

The Ritual (25 avril aux US)

This one particularly intrigues us. The Ritual will tell the story of how two priests put aside their differences to save a possessed young woman. One of the priests has lost his faith, while the other must face his past mistakes. What intrigues us is that the two men of faith will be embodied by Dan Stevens and above all the immense Al Pacino !

Final Destination : Bloodlines (14 mai)

This is a sequel that we are impatiently awaiting. Almost fifteen years after the fifth partthe famous license Destination Finale will come and take off our retinas once again. Particularly spectacular franchise, the Destination Finale have always known how to stage eccentric killingscreative, sometimes quirky and always very impressive. A sixth part which will also feature the great Tony Todd (Candyman), died on last November 6in one of his last posthumous roles.

28 years later (June 18)

This is one of the big pieces of this year 2025. 18 years later 28 weeks laterthe conclusion of the famous trilogy launched by Danny Boyle in 2002 will finally be released in cinemas. A highly anticipated film since it brings back the entire team of 28 days later : Danny Boyle directing, Cillian Murphy to the casting and especially the incredible Alex Garland to the scenario. The first trailer is already a work of art in itself. We have huge hype!

M3GAN 2.0 (June 25)

The first was a small quite exhilarating treat. Violent film, which is in line with the uninhibited saga that was Chucky, M3GAN was forgettable but enjoyable entertainment. Obviously, his $180 million box office revenue pushed Universal to produce a sequel. Be careful, the return of the killer robot risks causing sparks.

Remember…last summer (July 16)

Since Hollywood particularly likes remakes and reboots of his great horror films, it’s the turn of Remember… last summer to go through the studio mill. Jennifer Kaytin Robinsonrather accustomed to comedies, will take care of the staging of this reboot, which, we hope, will pay homage to the 1997 classic led by Jennifer Love Hewitt et Sarah Michelle Gellar. The good news is that Jennifer Love Hewitt will be back in the film. Which suggests that this new version could be a sequel to the first opus. A phenomenon that is happening a lot currently in horror franchises, which erase the sequels, to connect the new film to the very first. Halloween, The Exorcist, Candyman, The Leprechaun have all already been there (to name just a few).

The Conjuring : Last Rites (10 septembre)

The Conjuring : Last Rites will mark the fourth part of the saga Conjuring, and will be the 10th film in the Conjuring-verse launched by James Wan. For this new part of the Warren adventures, Michael Chaveswho has already taken care of The Curse of the White Lady, of Conjuring 3 and of La Nonne 2 is therefore back to further develop this Conjuring-verse. Good news, Vera Farmiga et Patrick Wilson are back!

The Bride! (September 24)

The werewolf won’t be the only old monster in the Hammer to be resurrected in 2025. Frankenstein’s monster will also have the right to be reread. Except this time, the point of view will be more feminine. Maggie Gyllenhaal will take care of the setting, while the story will focus on The Bride of Frankenstein. The story will take place in the 1930s when Dr. Frankenstein goes to Chicago to meet a colleague. The two men want to bring a young woman back to life to make her a companion… Jake Gyllenhaal, Christian Bale, Annette Bening, Penélope Cruz, and John Magaro are all expected in the casting of this new version which we are impatiently awaiting.

Saw XI (October 1st)

the saga Saw doesn’t seem to want to turn off. It must be said that Saw X rekindled the flames of the fans. The return of Tobin Bell as John Kramer managed to rekindle the excitement for fans around a license that still counts 10 films. And then, we must recognize that Saw X was much better than the ignoble Spiral. At the moment, we don’t yet know if Jigsaw will be there, but Kevin Greutert should be back behind the camera.

The Black Phone 2 (15 octobre)

Released in 2021, Black Phone was a terrifying proposition from the great Scott Derrickson. The director of Sinister returned to his first love: horror films. With Black PhoneScott Derrickson recalled that he is (with James Wan) quite simply the best craftsman of Hollywood horror cinema. Dark, violent, surprising film, we can’t wait to discover this sequel which should bring back Ethan Hawke.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 (3 décembre)

The first was pleasant entertainment (even if we prefer Willy’s Wonderland with Nicolas Cage). Adaptation of the famous video game of the same name, Five Nights at Freddy’s had managed to raise more than $291 million at the box office. Still, this sequel is going to have to do better if it wants to get our approval. Josh Hutcherson should be backand that’s good news!
