Return to the place where the most unforgettable moments of your youth were lived It is something that few people experience. For James y Oliver Phelpsthe twins who gave life to Fred y George Weasley in the saga of Harry Potterthat opportunity presented itself when they became hosts of Harry Potter: Wizards of Bakinga culinary competition inspired by magic world. The experience was a whirlwind of memories, emotions and new experiences, as the actors shared in a conversation with People.
The production took place in some of the most emblematic settings of the franchiseincluding the Great Dining Room Hogwartsa place that has a special meaning for actors. “It was really strange,” confessed James, who played Fred Weasley. “I had a flashback snapshot of the 11 years I spent working here. I remembered from the first time I walked through those doors to specific moments, like when we filmed the scene where we turned into old men in the fourth movie. All those memories flashed through my mind in a matter of seconds.”
Filming in the Great Hall also marked a significant moment for the show’s participants, who had the honor of creating desserts in a location that, until then, had only been used as a setting for the iconic films. “We told the contestants, ‘You’re the first to do something like this here. In the movies, it was just cooked up for the story, but you guys are creating something real in this magical space.’ And they understood perfectly what that meant,” James explained.
For the Phelps twinsthe return to Leavesden It was like reliving high school days, a metaphor James used to describe the feeling of nostalgia that came over them as they walked through the studios. “Imagine returning to your old high school after years. You recognize every corner, but now it is renovated, more modern, more impressive,” he joked. This feeling was intensified by the presence of former co-stars, such as Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley), Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood) y Warwick Davis (Professor Flitwick). “It was like a reunion of alumni, full of laughter, memories and the feeling that, despite the time, “we are still connected”, Oliver added.
However, it wasn’t all looking to the past. This new project also brought opportunities to create special moments in their current lives. For Oliver, bringing his oldest daughter to the set was a unique experience. “I never thought that one day I would be in this place with my daughter. “It was something really special.”he shared. Although the little girl is not a fan of the world of Harry Potterdid show great interest in the colossal and creative cakes that were prepared on the show. “For her, the excitement was in seeing the culinary creations, rather than being in the Great Hall. “It was fun to experience that together from a completely new perspective,” he added.
During production, the twins also noted that the reverence for the legacy of Harry Potter remains as strong as ever, even among those working in the studios. Oliver laughingly recalled an incident that made this clear: “One day we decided to sit at the main table in the Great Hall, like we did during the movies. Immediately, someone from the team tour He asked us not to do it, almost as if we had moved an artifact from the British Museum without permission. It was a reminder of how important this place still is to people”.
The filming of Wizards of Baking allowed the twins to reflect on how much Harry Potter has meant in their lives. “We always say that this world never stops being special because you see how much it means to others”Oliver commented. For them, returning to the place where it all began was both a nostalgic and refreshing experience, a bridge between their past in the magical universe and their present, full of new opportunities.
The Phelps, as hosts, managed to unite the nostalgia of the past with the emotion of the present, demonstrating that, in the magic worldthere is always room for new stories. He Harry Potter legacyAccording to the twins, it’s not just about movies or books, but about the ability to continue generating connections, memories and unforgettable experiences.
“Every time we return to these places, we realize how much that stage of our lives marked us. And now, with this program, we can share a little of that magic with a new generation of fans”James concluded.
