Darkness falls on a small town in Colorado, smothered by the threatening presence of the mountains. The night crawls, cold and silent. Two young Mormon missionaries, Sister Barnes and Sister Paxton, knock on an imposing door, their faith the only shield against the freezing night. They are the innocent lambs, unaware of the wolf who awaits them. Mr. Reed, a middle-aged man with old-fashioned charm, played by a deliciously disturbing Hugh Grant, invites them inside his labyrinthine home. A fire crackles in its fireplace. But this only emits false heat. Because Mr. Reed's house is a bear trap, baited with faith, and the young women are already snared.
Heretic (2024)a psychological horror film woven by “Quietly” screenwriters Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, doesn't rely on cheap jump scares or bloodshed. The horror here is insidious, seeping into the mind like poison, distilled through words. Mr. Reed, a self-proclaimed theologian with a serpentine grin, methodically dismantles the missionaries' beliefs, drowning them in a torrent of scholarly arguments and twisted sophistry.
Released on November 27 in cinemas, Heretic (2024) will benefit from an upcoming release in 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format. An edition is scheduled in France at Le Pacte for release on April 2, 2025. The film was shot using Arri Alexa 35 (4.6k) digital cameras.
Visual and technical details still pending. Pre-orders are open.
