Bridget Jones 4 Trailer Broke Early Fans' Hearts

In this trailer unveiled on Tuesday, November 12, the heart of the heroine, now a mother and widow, balances between several suitors – including the eternal seducer Daniel Cleaver.

Bridget Jones and Mister Darcy, it's over. Renée Zellweger is back in action to play the heroine in the 4th part of the cult saga, Bridget Jones : Very lazydirected by Michael Morris. The trailer for the film, which was revealed this Tuesday, November 12, caused a lot of reaction from spectators. And for good reason: it suggests that the elegant Mark Darcy, played by Colin Firth, has died. We therefore find a widowed Bridget Jones, mother of two children whom she must raise alone. News that saddened fans of the legendary couple.

Multiple suitors

On Twitter, Internet users expressed their sorrow. “Her husband is dead???”, “Bring back Mark Darcy”, “What a horrible idea to kill Mark Darcy, I’m devastated”, or even “Why did they kill Darcy? Sorry, I won’t watch this movie.” An opus in which the heroine finds herself single – but courted by multiple suitors.

The eternal seducer, Daniel Cleaver, played by Hugh Grant, will do his usual come-back in the life of Bridget Jones. We also find Roxster, a young man met on a dating application, played by Leo Woodall, 28, who made himself known in the series The White Lotus (2022) et A day (2024). The trailer also suggests a love story with his children's teacher, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, hero of the film 12 Years a Slave (2013).

The last film in the cult saga?

This new film in the saga will be released almost ten years after the last part, Bridget Jones Baby (2016). The plot of the 4th film in the saga is adapted from the third volume by Helen Fielding, Bridget Jones : Mad About the Boypublished in 2013. The feature film will be released in theaters on February 12, 2025 in . This could well be the last film about the awkward blonde, now 52 years old. Indeed, the trailer specifies that “Bridget is back for one last chapter”.
