While at the US box office, it has just taken the place of Terrifier 3, this horror film definitely has a lot of reasons to make its producers… and spectators smile.

You have a smile!

In 2022, the first episode of Smile was a big hit in cinemas. We followed the misadventures of a psychiatrist who was the victim of a terrible curse. The starting point of this nightmare? The suicide of one of his patients who had admitted to him that she was haunted by an entity. This episode was all the more traumatic because before dying, the young woman wore a huge smile. Since that day, the doctor sees more and more strange smiles and faces extremely trying situations.

Released in cinemas during the month of October, the sequel to Smile, simply titled Smile 2, follows the adventures of a pop star, Skye Riley, played on screen by Naomi Scott (Charlie’s Angels, Aladdin). At the dawn of a new world tour, the artist will have to survive something much worse than the pressure exerted by his celebrity: those around him start to smile at him in a very strange way and make him experience real hell. As usual, the heroine will have to dig into her past in order to regain control of her life. If that is even possible.

Smile, you are being filmed

While the first episode grossed more than $217 million for an estimated budget of $17 million, Smile 2 seems on track to do even better. While it is making misery for its competitors at the US box office (and in particular Terrifier 3), the film directed by Parker Finn has already exceeded 100 million dollars in revenue worldwide. Wishing to continue to spread the word about the film, Paramount has just released a site that is original to say the least. On the latter, you will be able to watch the first 7 minutes of Smile 2 if, and only if, you smile without interruption.

Of course, it’s necessary to have a webcam for everything to work, with the site requiring access in order to spy on you while you drool in front of the screen. It’s well seen, it’s funny, but it’s in the original version only. If you are interested, the page is accessible by ici. This campaign reminds us of the first part, where Paramount paid actors to laugh menacingly in front of television cameras during sporting events. The buzz had had its little effect.
