Tom Holland reveals he read the script for ‘Spider-Man 4’ with Zendaya

Tom Holland, who is set to reprise his role in “Spider-Man 4,” revealed that he read an early draft of the script with his on-screen and life partner, Zendaya.

Fans will have to be patient. In the “Rich Roll” podcast, Tom Holland confided that he read the script for the fourth part of “Spider-Man” with Zendaya, his co-star and girlfriend.

“We have a creative project, a pitch and a draft, which is excellent. It needs some work, but the authors do a great job. I read it three weeks ago, and it really lit a fire in me. Zendaya and I sat down and read the script together, and sometimes we would jump around the living room thinking that this was a real movie, worthy of the fans’ respect. But we still have a few details to iron out before we can really get started, but it’s exciting,” said the actor.

Tom Holland played Spider-Man in three independent films, alongside Zendaya in the role of Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson: “Spider-Man: Homecoming” (2017), “Spider-Man: Far From Home” (2019). ) and “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (2021). He also played the superhero in several other Marvel films, including “Captain America: Civil War”, “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame”.

“I want to protect his legacy”

Last year, Tom Holland admitted to the site Collider his desire to reprise the role, but only if the script lived up to the character. “I’m very protective of Spider-Man. I feel very fortunate to have been able to work on a franchise that has gotten better with each film, that has been more successful with each film, which is really rare, and I want to protect its legacy. So I won’t make another film just for the sake of making another one. The character will have to be worth it.”

Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed “Shang-Chi” and “The Legend of the Ten Rings”, should direct this 4th part, succeeding Jon Watts, director of the first three films.
