the creator of Deadpool regrets the absence of this Marvel character

Rob Liefeld, the creator of Deadpool, has a comment to make regarding Deadpool & Wolverine. He regrets that this cult character from the Marvel universe is absent from Shawn Levy’s film.

Deadpool & Wolverine: huge box office success

Released on July 24, Deadpool & Wolverinethe latest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to date, was a literal hit at the box office. This is a new success for Marvel Studios since it Deadpool 3 reported more than $1.3 billion recipe. A monster success and a record for the Marvel blockbuster which therefore ranks as the highest-grossing R-rated film at the box office of all time.

Directed by Shawn Levy, Deadpool & Wolverine is also an opportunity to cross paths with many Marvel characters, notably the heroes of the late 20th Century Fox. The opportunity for fans to meet cult actors and characters (in addition to Hugh Jackman et Ryan Reynolds) as Aaron Stanford a Pyro, Tyler Mane in Sabretooth, Jennifer Garner in Elektra or even Wesley Snipes in Blade. Yet, despite all these characters, there is a big absentee in Deadpool & Wolverine.

But where is Cable?

And yes, Cable, who was the main antagonist of Deadpool 2 did not come back in Deadpool & Wolverine. Incarnated by Josh Brolinthis anti-hero whose destiny is often linked to those of Deadpool and the X-Forcedecides to trust Wade, and becomes an ally in the final moments of the footage. We all expected to see the character again in Deadpool & Wolverineyet Cable was not invited to the party.

A regrettable decision, which is not shared by Rob Liefeldthe creator of Deadpool and Cable. The latter actually went to his X account to share his disillusionment with the absence of Cable in Shawn Levy’s blockbuster:

It is such a missed opportunity to not get Josh Brolin rolling on a bunch of Cable/X-Force film. Full stop.

It’s definitely a missed opportunity not to have Josh Brolin in a Cable/X-Force movie series. Period.

Not to mention developing films or series around Cable and X-Force, the character played by Josh Brolin totally had his place within the plot of Deadpool & Wolverine. But, undoubtedly Shawn Levy didn’t really know where to take this anti-hero, especially within a story teeming with characters of all kinds. However, in the comics, Cable plays a leading role in the creation of X-Force. For a time, Fox wanted to develop a film around X-Force. But the takeover of the studio by Disney seems to have buried this idea. Damage…
