At the Nîmes media library, still a little thrill?

From the start, the history of cinema has been thrilling. With “Shivering Evening”, the Carré d’art media library in Nîmes immerses moviegoers in the great Warner films, through a series of cult productions from the 1970s to the start of the 21st century.

Photos, figurines, models, reviews… It is impressive to note the extent to which, even for audiences not necessarily fond of the genre, major productions have built and marked the imagination. After the monsters of the 1950s, the style became more claustrophobic and psychological with films like The Exorcist by William Friedkin or Shining by Stanley Kubrick and his Overlook hotel, the wallpaper of which can be found.

Psycho killers

In the 1980s, horror cinema shifted towards the slasher with bloodthirsty and relentless killers. Anxiety, nightmares, strong emotions for the spectators and boxes full of dollars for the producers. Freddy: Claws of the Night, Friday the 13th… Studios invest in franchises and it pays off, to the point that they even decide to democratize genres by mixing it with humor and comedy. The exhibition looks at length at the history of Gremlinswith photos and a documentary. All that’s missing is the popcorn!

Until November 2. Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Atrium gallery, Carré d’art, place de la Maison-Carrée, Nîmes. FREE ENTRANCE. 04 66 76 35 03.
