This new horror film is prohibited for under 18s in

A few hours ago, we told you about The Substancethis ultra-gory film which scares away spectators in the United Kingdom and the United States. And while October marks the season of fear and many hope to shiver with terror as the Halloween holidays draw closer, there is another horror film that has recently made headlines, as it is one of the rare films to be banned for those under 18 in .

The season of fear starts strong with Terrifier 3

At the start of the year, we presented to you our selection of the most anticipated horror films of 2024, among which we could notably find Smile 2or even Terrifier 3. The latter thus marks the return of the famous Art the Clownwhich we first discovered in the short film The 9th Circle from 2008, then in All Hallows’ Eve (2013), and which subsequently returned in Terrifier (2016) and its 2022 sequel.

And while the cinema release of Terrifier 3 is scheduled with us for October 9, 2024the new opus of the horrific saga will be prohibited for those under 18, which is quite rare. Indeed, the film’s distributor ESC Éditions published a press release on this subject yesterday, explaining that the feature film was entitled to such a ban by the Classification Commission.

We thus learn that initially, Terrifier 3 should only be prohibited for spectators under 16 years of age. The distributor therefore fears that this final decision will harm the release of the projectwhich is awaited by “tens of thousands of French spectators”, especially given the period which is particularly favorable for this type of film.

This is a ban rare enough to be highlighted, because as some have pointed out, one of the last horror films to be banned for all minors was none other than Saw 3 in 2006almost 20 years ago. Note, however, that other feature films have since been banned for under-18s, but this was mainly due to explicit sex scenes, like erotic dramas Nymphomaniac – Volume 2 (2014) by Lars von Trier or even Love (2015) by Gaspar Noé.

And to continue on the same theme, find out what this project is announced by the creator of The Boys which should delight horror fans.
